Coronavirus update 18th March 2020

Dear Parents/carers

I am writing to provide an update on how the Coronavirus continues to affect life in our school. Following the Government's advice regarding travel on public transport and non-essential gatherings we have decided to cancel the following events:

  • the quiz night on 27th March
  • tomorrow's trip to the Gurdwara for Y4 (Y4 parents have already been informed)
  • the trip for Y3 to the Tutankhamun exhibition
  • parent consultation meetings scheduled for the last two weeks of term
  • the piano concert this Friday
  • the guitar and violin concerts next Wednesday
Clubs that take place after school will continue to operate unless your are informed by the office that they are cancelled.
Swimming lessons on Friday will continue as normal. We have carried out a risk assessment and, as children travel on private transport and are the only ones in the pool, we are happy for our children to continue their lessons. The National Governing Body for Swimming - Swim England - recently released a statement clarifying the safety of swimming pool water, assuring swimmers that the chemical composition of swimming pool water greatly reduces the risk of disease spreading. Please click here  for more information.
We are holding off making a final decision about the Year 6 residential visit to Aberdovey until closer to the day. We have asked for guidance from the Outward Bound Trust and Haringey and will inform parents when the final decision is made.
We will afford parents the right to withdraw from any of these events at short notice. As you will appreciate, these are difficult times for us all and some staff have had to self-isolate following Government guidance but we are continuing to function in spite of this.
In the event of a decision being made by Government to close schools, we will be providing work for children to do at home. We will provide more information to parents if the decision to close is made, but I can say that work will be set electronically via Google Classroom, a platform that the children are used to working from in school.
Information and advice on Covid-19 changes almost by the hour and we have to make decisions, often at very short notice. Please be patient and I thank you for your continued support in these difficult ‚Äčtimes.
